CATSINO through the looking glass X DUO XAMP
What if our touchscreen were a musical instrument? What kind of sonic world would our screen gestures produce? through the looking glass (2024) takes perspectives from both sides of a touchscreen, creating theatrical scenarios where tactile gestures like scrolling, tapping, swiping, and clicking are transformed into expressive acts of listening and music-making. Two musicians perform with and against each other in contrasting roles: one as an
addicted user, navigating an endless feed, and the other as an autonomous entity hidden within, dynamically responding to the other's sonic choreography. The “screen” becomes a metaphorical “looking glass”—a lens that filters, magnifies, distorts, and reframes these gestures, revealing them as both joyful and exploitative music patterns.
